SURFACE APPLICATION & GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Moisture: Pavement must be dry. Prior to laying the product on the road thoroughly preheat the application area. All moisture must be removed to ensure a proper bond.
Surface: Asphalt must be free of dirt, dust, chemicals, or significant oil substances. Do not apply on top of paint of cold plastic.
Material: Bundy should be kept dry at all times - in storage, in transit and on the project. The packages should be stored flat and stacked a maximum of 25 packs high. Bundy should be handled with care, especially in cold weather when it will become brittle. Shelf life is 12 months.
- Clean area completely free of loose particles and dust.
- Preheat the area. All moisture must be removed. The area is heated enough when the pavement shows signs of tar coming to the surface.
- Position Bundy on the road. Make sure it is facing the desired direction.
- Heat the Bundy with the torch until completely melted. The material may ignite during heating, but will self extinguish when the flame from the torch is removed. The adhesive pad must be completely molten before positioning the object to be affixed to the pavement surface. Continue to heat the adhesive pad until the well-defined edges of the pad are no longer visible. At this point, the adhesive pad should appear as a "puddle" of molten adhesive.
- Position the #101 Fixed Base on the Bundy immediately after the torch is moved away from the material. Make sure that there is at least 1/4" of Bundy material surrounding all sides of the base.
- Apply pressure to the base to ensure bonding.
- Allow a few minutes to cool, place post into base, check for proper alignment, then hand tighten all four socket cap screws. Use 5/16" allen wrench to snug screw.
