Impact Recovery Systems, Inc.® announced today the issuance by the U.S. Patent Office of two patents to President Greg Hannah, Senior Project Engineer Ken Parrott, and Project Engineer Patrick Boyle.
Design patent D932,875 S, issued to Parrott and Boyle, is for a horizontal bollard adapter, which fully protects anchors from fork lift impact that can result in failed racks and expensive repairs.
Design and utility patent 11,136,735 B2 issued to Hannah and Parrott, is for a round base impact-resistant and energy-absorbing bollard system that absorbs energy from impact collisions, reducing damage to assets and vehicles and protecting personnel.

Originally from Mississippi, Greg attended Delta State University, where he earned his Bachelors of Business Administration.
Parrott has been a member of the team for 12 years, and has more than 30 years of experience in heavy industry (mostly automotive) process controls. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Parrott holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University. When asked about the patent, Parrott said, “It has actually been a life-long dream to be awarded a patent. I feel like a patent is a stamp on your career indicating you did something innovative and unique. I hope this is the first of many more patents for me and Impact Recovery Systems, Inc. Boyle, who started his career as an engineering intern at Impact Recovery Systems, Inc., is from San Antonio, Texas. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at San Antonio, he joined the team, where he has now worked for almost four years. He is enthusiastic about receiving the patent, and is proud that he has accomplished something so special so early in his career. Boyle says the idea for the patent came from “Requests from customers for low guarding products. The existing solutions required a system of multiple IronFlex tees and elbows to create a low-guarding unit. The horizontal adapter now allows for a simple transition from the baseplate to a horizontal pipe.”
